Mary Louise Bunaes

With great sorrow, family and friends announce her passing on February

21, 2008 while undergoing treatment for cancer in Prien-am-Chiemsee,


Born December 18, 1939 in Stewart, Nevada, Mary Louise Grinnell

attended schools in Carson City and went on to graduate with honors from

the University of Oregon, where she was a member of the local chapter of

Delta Zeta sorority and of the Mortarboard Honor Society. Following

graduation, she moved with her husband Bard Bunaes to his native Norway.

They subsequently lived in England and France before settling in

Irvington-on-Hudson, N.Y., where she devoted her considerable energy and

talent to a variety of organizations and causes. She sang with the

Sounddettes, an all-female acapella group as well as the choir at the

church of St. Barnabas in Irvington, of which she and her husband were longtime parishioners. An ardent sportswoman. She and her husband

traveled extensively and had many homes throughout the country.

In addition to her husband, Mary Louise is survived by three children, Hans

Paal of Jamestown, R.I., Erik Christopher of San Rafael, Calif.. , and

Christina Louise of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, two grandchildren, Mia

Louise and Jack Bard Bunaes, as well as three sisters, Charlene, Ramona

and Darlene, and a brother, Ralph Grinnell.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 1 at the church of St. Barnabas in Irvington, N.Y.
