Mozzarella plant to bring 400 jobs to Kings County
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A new $150 million mozzarella cheese plant will bring 400 jobs to Kings County, the state Trade and Commerce Agency has announced.
Denver-based Leprino Foods Co. will open the Lemoore facility in 2002.
”This is a tremendous shot in the arm for Kings County and an example of California opening its doors to new business expansions,” said agency secretary Lon Hatamiya.
Average wages at the plant will be in the $16 an hour range.
The company, founded in 1950, already operates a smaller plant in Lemoore, which employs about 270 and opened in 1985.
