Nevada set to release latest high school graduation rates
Education officials are set to announce the graduation rate for Nevada’s Class of 2014.
The Nevada Department of Education is expected to release annual statistics on Thursday.
The rate for the Class of 2013 was 70.7 percent, which was more than 7 percentage points higher than the year before.
The dramatic jump was driven by Clark County School District’s efforts to better track which students dropped out and which had just moved elsewhere.
Numbers are expected to stay relatively high this year but then dip for the Class of 2015. That’s because Nevada is implementing more rigorous Common Core standards and a different proficiency test system.
