John Paul Yaccarine, Jr.

May 31, 1920 – January 27, 2019

John P. Yaccarine, Jr., 98, of San Jose, CA passed away peacefully in Carson City, NV on January 27, 2019 with his loving family by his side.

John was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 31, 1920. He graduated from Beacon High School.

In 1944, John enlisted in the US Army and served in the 4th Infantry Division in WWII. After his career in the military he returned home where he met Eva. They married on May 11, 1947 and remained together for 71 ½ years.

John then began his career as a project manager with IBM and relocated from headquarters in Poughkeepsie, NY to a new location on Cottle Road in San Jose, CA in 1957. He retired in 1984 after 32 years.

John was an avid golfer and continued golfing until he was 90 years old. He also enjoyed playing on his computer, sending and receiving e-mails as well as making DVDs of the power-points he would receive. John would also spend his retirement time visiting other IBM Quarter Century Club members that were in hospitals and nursing homes making them feel better and bringing them some joy.

John is survived by his wife Eva; his children Anthony (Debbie) Yaccarine, Theresa Doll, Michael Yaccarine; his grandchildren Nicolle Gatrell, Melissa (Patrick) Murray, Alexandrea Yaccarine, and Jared Yaccarine; his great-grandchildren Grady Kershaw and Jonathan Gatrell.

John is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Yaccarine, his father John P. Yaccarine, Sr., his sister Audrey Dilitto, his brothers-in-law Richard Woodard and Albert Dilitto, and his

son-in-law Jeff Doll.

A Rosary service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 6 pm and a Funeral Mass on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 4 pm. Both services will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 3000 Lompa Lane, Carson City, NV.

A Celebration of Life will follow after the service on Friday.
