Norma Lea Stenovich

Norma Lea Stenovich (Schlapkohl, Korte), 83, of Carson City, passed away on July 9, 2017.

She was born a Camusso in Tonopah, Nevada on top of a steamer trunk. She was known to many as Grammie Frog since she collected them. A kid at heart, she loved to have fun and especially loved children. As she would say, she collected” friends and family. She never went anywhere that she didn’t run into someone she knew at some point in her life.

She retired from State Service (Vocational Rehab) in 1989. Throughout the years she received numerous awards for community service through Boy Scouts of America, Shriner’s Hospital in Honolulu, HI, Senior Volunteers (RSVP) (Mackay Museum in Virginia City) and Carson Valley Historical Society (Genoa Museum).

She was preceded in death by her sister Emma Scilacci from Lovelock and grandson Timothy Evan St. Germaine.

Among her survivors are her sister Marguerite “Tinka” Ross {Alex} of San Rafael CA; sons James Schlapkohl {Diane} of Carson City and Thomas Schlapkohl {Launa} of Golden Valley, AZ; daughter Karen St. Germaine of Honolulu HI; grandsons Christopher, Kenneth {Gabriella}, Daniel and Jordan; great granddaughter Kylie; step-great granddaughter Hazel; and step-great grandson Anthony. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
