Pierre Hathaway

October 30, 1930 - March 17, 2019

Born October 30, 1930, in New Rochelle, NY, Pierre Hathaway passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at his home in Carson City, Nevada. Pierre had been receiving hospice care at his home where his wife of 24 years, Florence Phillips-Hathaway had been  caring for him following a 5-month illness. , he  led an active life.

Pierre was devoted and loved his family, children, and career In the finance and accounting sector. He was passionate about being of service to his community and to others, most notably, was his mentoring teen boys, his volunteerism with RSVP, a Kindergarten substitute teacher. Pierre was committed to spreading the love and word of God through Kairos that spanned 46 years, being active in their prison ministry.

A 1953 MBA from Stanford University, he went on to become the CFO for Reno’s Peppermill Restaurant. Pierre, a Master swimmer held 2nd place in the Senior World Championships (2017) in the backstroke within the 80-85-year-old bracket and you could frequently find him at the Carson City Aquatic Pool.

He had 4 children by a previous marriage, was a proud grandfather to 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Pierre and Florence served as Ameri/Corps VISTA’s (Volunteer In Service to America) in Minnesota (1995-97). as well as US Peace Corps volunteers serving in Kenya (1997-1999).

A Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 11:00am at 1st United Methodist Church, 200 N.Division St., Carson City, NV.
