July 10, 1931 ~ September 20, 2017
William F Culverhouse, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 20th at The Lodge, an assisted living and memory care facility in Carson City, Nevada.
Bill, Billy or Cuz, as he was affectionately known, was born on July 10, 1931 in Knoxville, Georgia and was the youngest of 6 children. Bill was a TSGT in the Air Force and served for 22 years, including a year in Vietnam and Okinawa. Bill supervised the mess halls during his Air Force years and then at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas for another 20.
He married Margaret Chisari on August 18, 1955. They were close to celebrating their 50th anniversary when she passed in 2005.
He is survived by his daughters, Fran Culverhouse of Carson City, Nevada and Joanne Culverhouse of Long Beach, California.
He was raised on a farm and continued to be a gifted gardener throughout his life. His tomatoes were the best in the west! One of his greatest gifts was his love of life and his joy. He is famous for his "I love you" in sign
language that he shared with everyone and anyone, even those who had no idea what he meant.
Heartfelt appreciation for the loving care provided by the amazing staff at The Lodge and Kindred Hospice. They are truly angels and serve with love.
A Mass of Celebration will be held Thursday, September 28th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community Church, 3000 N. Lompa Ln., Carson City, Nevada .
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation in honor of William F Culverhouse to Veterans Guest House, 880 Locust Dr. Reno, NV 89502 or online at http://www.veteransguesthouse.org
