Obituary: Edna Lattin
Edna Lattin, 88, matriarch of Lattin Farms, died May 7, 2010. She was born to Jack and Lily Brite on Dec. 18, 1921 in Battle Mountain, Nev.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ralph William “Bill” Lattin; sister, Bea Plyer of Las Vegas; children, Rick (B. Ann) Lattin of Fallon, Nev., Dennis (Patty) Lattin of Spring Creek, Nev. and Vicki (Rich) Linton of Draper, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Edna was always an anchor in the storm of life. She offered a shoulder to cry on and found joy in the small things of life. She was able to see the beauty that surrounded her and shared this gift with anyone that would listen; reading clouds, picking asparagus, watching butterflies transform, enjoying spring blossoms and the beauty of a Fallon sunset. The value of education was important to Edna and she encouraged her family to pursue education and learn as much as they could about something they loved. She constantly sought knowledge herself. Even at 88 she was computer literate and loved her “facebook” account and reading the family blogs.
Edna had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She could always put a smile on your face. Edna was a stabilizing force in the lives of many people, although she never realized the impact she had. She had amazing intuition and often knew what people were thinking or feeling before they knew themselves.
Following Edna’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Churchill County Museum or take time to find and appreciate the wonders of the world; appreciate a beautiful sunset; take a child by the hand and enjoy the transformation of a butterfly; lend a listening ear; listen, laugh and love. Edna will be missed but her legacy of love and guidance will live on forever in her posterity. Thank you, until we meet again.
