Obituary: Jane Ann King

Jane Ann King died peacefully at her home in Reno on July 16, 2010. Jane was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Oct. 9, 1925. She moved with her family to Oakland, Calif., in 1942 and graduated from Oakland High School in 1944. Jane was employed by a building supply company when she met her husband, Dick and became engaged while working in Sun Valley, Idaho, in the winter of 1953. They were married in Piedmont, Calif., on Sept. 25, 1954, and relocated to Carson City in 1968.

Jane worked for the Nevada State Education Association for several years and seven sessions with the Nevada State Legislature. Jane liked outdoor activities and volunteered with the Carson City Junior Ski Program. She enjoyed golf and spending summer weekends at Graeagle, Calif.

Jane was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1983 and dementia in 2010. She is survived by her husband Dick King; daughters Kelly King and Kendall Howard; granddaughter Jessie Macdonald; great-granddaughter Sara; and several nieces and nephews.
