Obituary: Joyce E. Houle

Joyce Ellen Houle passed away May 13, 2010 at her home in Carson City, surrounded by her family. She was born June 20, 1928, in River Falls, Wis. As a young woman, Joyce was a model for the Adrian Modeling Agency in Pasadena, Calif. In 1948, she won the crown of Miss Laguna Beach.
On Nov. 5, 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert Lee Houle on a popular radio show called, “The Bride and Groom Show” in Hollywood, Calif. Bob and Joyce raised their family in Arcadia, Calif.
Joyce retired from the Bank of America after a 21-year career. She then started her own cleaning business. Joyce loved her job and the people she worked for. She took great pride in everything she did. She worked until she was 80 years old and loved every minute of it.
Joyce left behind her husband Robert; sons Bobby, Peter and Philip; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One granddaughter preceded her in death.
Joyce was deeply loved and her gentle spirit will be missed by all. The family would like to thank her many friends who offered support during her illness and also St. Mary’s Hospice for the wonderful care she was given.
