Obituary: Ralph Irving Owens

Ralph Irving Owens, husband and father, passed away at 63.

Ralph was born November 10, 1946, in Le Mesa, Calif., to Jack and Marilyn Owens. He resided in the Carson City area for more than 25 years.

He died March 9, 2010, at home in Dayton after battling cancer for more than two years. Ralph is dearly missed by his two loving sons and his soul mate, Heike. Heike and Ralph were married for more than six years.

A correctional officer for nearly 25 years with the Nevada Department of Correction, Ralph enjoyed spending time in the Sierras whenever possible. He loved the Sierras, though he always dreamed of sailing around the world.

He is survived by his wife Heike; two sons Ian and Caleb; two stepchildren Roscoe and Patricia; grandson Devon; brother Robert; two sisters Melissa and Mary; and his loving mother Marilyn.

A memorial will be held at 3:30 p.m. March 30 at Capital Christian, 1600 Snyder Ave., Carson City. A reception will follow for close friends and family. Special thanks to Peggy and Brian Hill for all of their loving kindness.

Each moment of love

Remains like a song

In the flow of our lives, in

the lilt of our years,

Gripping our thoughts in its

Simple refrain

Healing with beauty our

unanswered pain,

The hymn of our hearts and

The bed of our tears

Your melody ancient, which

We will pass on.
