Obituary: Stanley "Sandy" Gordon Sadler
Stanley “Sandy” Gordon Sadler died December 17, 2009, from cancer. He was 83 years old. Sandy grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. He spent 32 years with the San Francisco Fire Dept, a job he loved, before retiring in 1991 at the age of 63. While living and working in the Bay Area, he was active in community theater and wrote, directed, and produced his own play, Pasha. He also painted several original works. After retiring, Sandy moved to Nevada and settled in Washoe Valley. He enjoyed playing blackjack and was a longtime, frequent, and welcome guest at the Carson Nugget and Casino Fandango. Sandy was also a well-known and well-liked karaoke entertainer around Carson City for many years. His big band songs and soft-shoe dance was often a hit with many guests where Sandy performed. He enjoyed writing, painting, and drawing. He loved the outdoors, often hiking with his dog into the hills behind his home in Washoe Valley. He will be missed by his friends. His ashes will be scattered near his home, and a celebration of his life is being planned for late January. Anyone interested in attending should e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. A Facebook page exists in his remembrance.
