The Methodist Men’s yard sale and pancake breakfast will be from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, 412 W. Musser St.

Boy Scouts to hold rummage sale

Boy Scout Troop no. 145 will be holding its 18th annual rummage sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. today at Seeliger Elementary School’s gym, 2800 S. Saliman Road. Proceeds from the sale go to offset the expenses for the scouts’ summer camp and an August backpacking trip. Local businesses like Wal-Mart, Sears, Empire Ranch and Eagle Valley golf courses and Red’s Old 395 Grill are providing event support, as well as local clubs such as the Kiwanis.

DAWG hosts Cinco de Mayo adoption event

The Douglas Animal Welfare Group will hold a Cinco de Mayo adoption event from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. today at the Douglas County Animal Shelter, 921 Pine Nut Road in Gardnerville. All adoptions include a free spay or neuter and free obedience training. There will also be other free pet gifts available. Lahontan fish hatchery open house is today

The 2007 Lahontan National Fish Hatchery Open House will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today. Local Boy Scout troop members will serve as guides for 30-minute tours of the hatchery and the High Sierra Fly Casters will offer fly casting demonstrations and training to anglers and future anglers. Police officers to raise money for Special Olympics

The third annual “Cops on Doughnut Shops” fundraiser for Special Olympics Nevada will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. today and Sunday at Krispy Kreme Donut Shop, at the corner of Kietzke Lane and South McCarran Boulevard in Reno. There will be a safety fair on site as well.

Reno Philharmonic youth orchestras concert set today

The Reno Philharmonic’s Youth Symphony and Concert Orchestras will be performing a concert at 4 p.m. today at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. This “Spring Showcase” will feature the Youth Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jose Flores, and the Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Joel Munc.

Galena Creek fish hatchery celebration Sunday

The grand opening of the newly restored Galena Creek Fish Hatchery will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Galena Creek Regional Park, 18350 Mount Rose Highway. A children’s fishing clinic and the State Historic Marker Dedication will highlight the event. Call 849-2511.
