Airport Authority meets today
The Carson City Airport Authority will meet at 6 p.m. today in the Terminal Building, 2600 College Parkway.
The focus will be on possible modifications to Title 19, the codes pertaining to the operation of the airport.
Convention & Visitors Bureau meets today
The Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William St.
Topics include discussions about helping to sponsor “Jazz & Beyond,” funding Carson City branding and marketing plan, and an update on progress of the V&T rail project.
Football team to host car wash
The Carson High Football teams will be holding their annual car wash 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the AM/PM on the corner of Carson Street and Highway 50.
The players are seeking a $5 donation for a car wash. Proceeds will go toward scholarships and equipment.

Improv workshop and show coming up
Wild Horse Children’s Theater and The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada present an Improv Workshop & Show at the The Children’s Museum, 813 N Carson St., at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Highlighting the weeklong workshop with Gerry Orton & Dave Frabizio is a “Whose Line Is It Anyway”-style improv show, in which audience participation is encouraged.

Toastmaster to address stem cell research
Capital Nevada Toastmasters meeting will be noon Tuesday at B’Sghetti’s.
As a Toastmaster, Sheila Ward will speak on “Stem Cell Research, Hope, not Hype”
The Table Topics Master will provide a subject to challenge members and guests to give a timed one- to two-minute impromptu speech.

Sketch class offered at college
Western Nevada College offers a non credit, community education class this summer that will teach students how to capture nature’s beauty through a variety of different mediums. Field Sketching in Nature, is scheduled for three Saturdays, July 14-28, 9 a.m.-noon, and is open to anyone 14 years or older. The cost is $60.

Skateboard competition to be held Saturday
Carson City Recreation Division and 702 Skate and Snowboard Shop will sponsor a Skateboard Contest on Saturday at Mills Park Skate Park.
Registration cost is $5.00 per participant. Each participant must have a signed liability form and registration form before competing. Register at 702 Skate Shop, 911 Topsy Lane, Suite 234 or at the Carson City Recreation Division Main Office, 851 E. William Street.
Web site readers wanted for research study
The Sierra Nevada Media Group is conducting research on how people use the company’s Web sites, and how they can be improved.
Those chosen to participate will be asked to keep a short log of their Internet activities, and sit down for an interview. They will be paid a $100 for their help.

Clean-up planned for Johnson Lane area
The Pine Nut Mountains Trails Association will be hosting a Clean-up/Trash Removal at the east end of Johnson Lane at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Follow signs at the east end of Johnson Lane leading out to the dumpsters.
Bring water, snacks, gloves, good work shoes/boots (no flip-flops), trash bags and a shovel. If You have a truck and trailer or backhoe/loader bring it out.
Don’t forget the sunscreen! Corndogs and sodas will be served for lunch around noon.
