Postcard presentation at state museum

Curator of History, Bob Nylen will host a presentation entitled “The Hal Dunn Carson City US Mint Postcard Collection: A Tribute to the Carson City Mint Collector” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Regular admission applies; free for members.

Dog obedience classes

The next session of Dog Obedience Classes with Guy Yeaman begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fuji Park Exhibit Hall.

This class uses a light-handed approach to help teach dogs to obey commands.

Each dog needs a choke chain and a fabric or leather lead. Dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on their shots. Cost for the six-week session is $75. Call 265-4530.

Young Professionals to meet

The first meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at D’Vine Wine at 200 N. Stewart.

A fashion show will be the highlight of the evening.

Young Professionals from Dayton and Douglas County are being invited as well.

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, is reaching out to victims of the Angora fire by hosting a benefit concert 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sand Harbor State Park. Auditions set for ‘Carousel’

Western Nevada College invites auditions for the Broadway musical “Carousel” 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Churchill County High School Theater. The production will take place 7 p.m. Nov. 8Ð10 and Nov. 15Ð17.

Anyone interested in auditioning must attend one of the pre-audition workshops 5:30 p.m. Monday or Tuesday at the high school theater. Callbacks will follow on Friday and the cast announcement will be posted at the WNC Fallon campus. Children’s roles will also be available, with auditions open to anyone who is at least 12 years old by Thursday.

All selected cast members who are high school juniors and older must enroll in WNC’s Musical Theater Practicum (MUS 176 or MUS 276). This class meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, Sept. 4-Nov. 17, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Cost: $176.25. High school sophomores and younger must enroll in WNC’s College for Kids class. Cost: $75.
