Grant funding available for parks
The Nevada Division of State Parks has announced that there are federal funds available for local park and recreation capital improvement, and acquisition projects, through the Land and Water Conservation Fund in the form of 50-50 matching grants.
Application packages are available on state parks’ Web site at http://www.parks.nv.gov/lwcf.htm. Hard copies are also available upon request. The due date for fiscal year 2007 applications is 5 p.m. Jan. 31. Faxed copies are not accepted.
Grant funding deadline approaching
The application deadline for federal historic preservation grants administered by the State Historic Preservation Office is Dec. 3, 2007.

Grant funding is provided by the National Park Service as part of the Land and Water Conservation Fund and is used to support preservation efforts by governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations.

Computer tutoring available
Carson City Library’s Computer Tutor is back to provide free one hour computer training sessions noon- 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sessions cover the World Wide Web or Microsoft Word.
Tutor does not set up e-mail accounts or provide instruction on how to use specific web sites such as eBay, Craig’s List or government services.
Students must know how to use a computer keyboard and mouse. Students may sign up for a total of three sessions. Signups are required. Call 887-2244.
WNC warns against business scam
Businesses have been receiving a generic email from University Press and Western Nevada College has told the company to cease communication.

Children’s Spanish classes being offered
Last chance to register for the upcoming session of Spanish Classes for children at the Children’s Museum. The four-week session will run Nov. 29-Dec. 20. Classes are held on Thursdays. The 4- to 6-year-old class will be held from 10-11:15 a.m. The 6- to 9-year-old class will be from 4-5:30 p.m. The session cost is $50, including all materials. Call 230-3288. Class size is limited.
