Christmas tree permits for sale

The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City Field Office, and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Carson Ranger District will sell Christmas tree permits beginning today and ending Dec. 21.

Permits for Forest Service trees must be purchased in person at the Carson Ranger District Office, 1536 S. Carson Street and are $10.

Permits for BLM trees may be purchased from the Carson City Field Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Rd and are $5; phone credit card orders or check/credit card mail orders will be accepted.

‘Spirit of Christmas’ event scheduled

Douglas County Senior Service will take a trip to ring in the holiday season with London’s biggest Christmas/Dinner show, the “Spirit of Christmas,” Dec. 9 at the Eldorado Showroom in Reno.

The cost of this special holiday trip is $45 and includes the show, dinner at the chef’s buffet at the Eldorado and transportation.

Auditions set for Vagina Monologues

Tahoe Women’s Services invites actresses and volunteers in the Northern Nevada area to an informational meeting 7 p.m. today about an upcoming production of “The Vagina Monologues.”

This year’s production will include two English performances and one Spanish performance Feb. 8, 9 and 16.

Auditions will be held in English 7-9 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Tahoe Women’s Services office in Truckee and Nov. 30 at the D.W. Reynolds Building in Incline Village.

Master Gardener volunteer training available

A mandatory orientation meeting for those interested in becoming a Master Gardener volunteer will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 27 at the Washoe County Cooperative Extension office, 5305 Mill St., Reno.

The orientation will prepare participants for Master Gardener Training that will begin Jan. 22-Feb 28. The cost of the class is $160.
