Sign ups Saturday for Diamond Pete’s ski program

Registration for Diamond Pete’s Kids, a feeder program for the Carson City Junior Ski/Snowboard Program, for children ages 4 through 8, will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday in the lobby of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Call the Recreation Office at 887-2290, ext. 100.

Historic homes to open for Sunday’s Victorian home tour

See historic homes on the Victorian Home Christmas Tour from noon – 5 p.m. Sunday. This is a self-drive tour. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for seniors and students. Each ticket shows a map to the open houses. For information, call 882-1805.

Library hosts reindeer-making event

Carson City Library’s Youth Department will host reindeer-making Willow Bill on 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Bill Goulardt will demonstrate the art of building reindeer out of willow branches. His holiday decorations can be seen on the Capitol grounds and throughout Carson City. Call 887-2244.

Celtic harpist offers concert at Borders

Anne Roos, a local area Celtic Harpist, will be giving a free concert from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at Borders Books, 911 Topsy Lane. She will be promoting her new CD release “A Light in the Forest” (Cambria). Call 220-7820.

Weekend wreath making workshop at Sorensen’s

Sorensen’s Resort will host a wreath making workshop 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Local crafts artist and naturalist Diane Campbell will share her secrets and artistic skills in a fun day of creativity. Sorensen’s Resort is located just a mile from the Highways 88/89 junction in Hope Valley. Cost for each one-day class is $45 for lodging guests and $70 for non-lodging guests. ‘Soulful Christmas’ at Sparks Casino

Contemporary jazz favorite Brian Culbertson delivers a unique touch to the traditional holiday-themed show with an all-star cast including saxman Gerald Albright, vocalist Howard Hewett, guitarist Nick Colionne and vocalist Victoria White.
