Chinese folk dancing at museum

For one afternoon, the Nevada State Museum will become home to the artistry of Chinese Folk Dance.

Master Xian NA Carlson, in partnership with the Folklife Program of the Nevada Arts Council, will give the presentation from 2-3:30 p.m. today in the South Changing Gallery of the Nevada State Museum.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors. Anyone 18 and under and members of the museum get in free.

Romeo and Juliet at Black Box Theater

Local authors at public library

The Douglas County Public Library presents a gathering of local authors, 3-5 p.m., Saturday Authors attending include: “The Spirit of Seabiscuit” author Jani Buron, “DeadStruck” writer Thomas Davis, “Penguin Paradise” author Barry Lar Rieu, and “Carragan Adventures” writer Patricia Murphy.

Society offers altering for cats

For a limited time, Nevada Humane Society will spay or neuter your cat for a special low price. Female cats will be spayed for $24; male cats will be neutered for $18, including vaccinations. Individuals who are on a limited income or cannot afford standard rates are eligible to call before April 8 to schedule an appointment at these special low prices.
