Regarding the 15 acres that may be put into the redevelopment district.
If Costco buys and develops the land, their property taxes will not benefit all of the people in Carson City – these taxes will go to the redevelopment district.
Redevelopment already receives all the property taxes collected in the downtown district. Can you imagine how much they already receive? Remember, there are many casinos in that district; redevelopment already gets too much of our property taxes.
The right thing to do is to put the land up for public bidding or work out something so that all the people in Carson City will benefit, not just a small area.
And what about all the businesses already here – how many will have to close their doors?
