Letter: dress code
We are familiar with the old saw that goes: “Clothes do not make the man.” Well, there is a smidgen of truth in that thought, but not in its entirety because there is nothing more revealing about the individual than how he or she presents themselves in the work environment.
Prior to purchasing our retirement home, we rented an apartment on High School Street in Gardnerville near what is now called the middle school. My first observation of the faculty revealed teachers dressed as slovenly as the students. The young mind (student) is shaped by its early environment, and the lasting impression from that school experience could only be that “slovenly is OK.” What a pity.
