Man charged in molestation of teen
A Carson City man was arrested Monday on suspicion of molesting a 13-year-old girl.
Teofilo Santiago Lira, 42, a laborer originally from Chantales, Nicaragua, was taken into custody at 6:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive after allegedly admitting to sexually assaulting the girl.
According to police reports, the girl told investigators Lira had forced her in November to undress and stand in front of him.
He allegedly told her not to scream or tell anyone because “she would regret it for the rest of her life,” the report states.
In February, the victim said, Lira did the same thing, this time holding her down and touching her.
On March 28, the victim said, Lira allegedly attempted to force her to have sex with him, but she fought him off.
“She stated that he would keep telling her to stop fighting and that she was going to like it,” according to the police report.
Lira allegedly admitted the incidents when interviewed by a deputy.
“Lira in his statement confessed that he had done a sexual violation against (the girl) on two separate occasions,” the report states. “He confessed to forcing her to take off her clothes and watching her naked while she laid on the bed and cried.”
Lira was being held in the Carson City Jail on $100,000 bail.
He is charged with felony lewdness with a minor under 14, attempted sexual assault and battery with intent to rape.
