Obituary: Jane Edwards

Jane Edwards, 80, a Loomis, Calif., resident, died Feb. 29, 2000, at her home. She was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Portland, Ore.

Mrs. Edwards attended school in and around Portland and graduated from Reed College, where she served for two years as a fencing instructor and later opened a fencing school in Portland.

She married J.P. Edwards, a naval retired naval aviator. He preceded her in death in 1992.

In 1941, Mrs. Edwards moved to the Bay area and worked as a legal secretary. After graduating from Golden Gate Law School, she passed the California Bar and opened a law office in Redwood City, Calif., where she practiced for a number of years. In the late ’50s, she moved to Montague, Calif., where she was drafted to run for district attorney for Siskiyou County. She was elected and served for four years. She became interested in mining law and continued to practice law until 1990. She moved to Dayton in 1996 where she was active in the golfing community and played regularly at both Eagle Valley and Dayton Valley golf clubs.

She had a life-long interest in golf and traveled much of the United States, Ireland and Scotland where she played the world-famous St. Andrew’s Course.

Among her survivors are her brothers, Robert Logan of Paso Robles, Calif., and Leonard Logan, of Carmel, Ind.; niece Nancy Canfield and nephew, Leonard Logan Jr.
