The old Nevada Pioneers will hold their annual picnic Sunday next at Treadway’s. The public ought to stand by these old blazers of the path of Empire and attend their annual gathering, as it will not be long before the little band will not be able to muster enough to hold a picnic.

Yesterday George Bath had an accident that will cause him the loss of a thumb. He was leading a horse when the animal became frightened and dragged him from the horse he was riding. In the mix-up, George had his thumb nearly torn from his hand. D. Lee took the member in charge and believes it can be saved.
70 YEARS AGO
An unusually large turnout of members and guests last night at the Sagebrush Club, giving indication to the extent this social organization has been missed during its suspension.

Warren Engine Co.’s 90th annual banquet at Leisure Hour Hall. Officers are Arnold Millard, president; Melvin Woodgate, treasurer; Robert Shriver, chief and Lester H. Groth, 2nd assistant chief. Guests included fire chiefs from Stewart, Minden, Gardnerville, Dayton and Zephyr Cove and U.S. Forestry and land management and business leaders.

Sabra Ann Schmanski, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmanski of Carson City, will be a finalist in the 1983 Nevada National Teen-Ager Pageant in the state finals at Henderson.

Tahoe Prevention Network’s Earthship Task Force will hold a press conference to introduce plans to build a youth center at South Lake Tahoe from recycled materials.
