SILVER DOLLARS AND WOODEN NICKELS: CHS students have a ‘LEGO’ up

Silver Dollars and Wooden Nickels is a weekly feature in the Appeal’s Opinion pages in which the Appeal gives Silver Dollars to those who deserve recognition and occasionally a Wooden Nickel to those who deserve criticism.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson High senior Rylan Fancher and CHS junior Nanami Duncan for being honored by FIRST LEGO League. Fancher was honored as the Outstanding Mentor for the 2018-19 season. He was recognized for his work with the FIRST LEGO League teams at Eagle Valley Middle School. Duncan received the Outstanding Volunteer award for her work in the FIRST LEGO League program.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson High’s David Remer for finishing second at 182 pounds at the NIAA 4A State Championships in wrestling. And to Carson’s Alex Wells and Douglas High’s Chad Singer for qualifying for state.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson City’s Ryker, a 3-year-old Spinone Italiano owned by Carson City’s Elaine Bergenheier, who was named as a Select Dog in the Spinone Italiani breed at the Westminster Dog Show.

SILVER DOLLAR: To all those involved in the grand re-opening and renovation of the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center.
