Richard F. Taylor
A memorial service for Richard F. Taylor, 72, a Carson City resident since 1974, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley. A celebration of life will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today at 76 Shady Tree Lane in Carson City.
Mr. Taylor died Oct. 3, 2006, in Carson City. He was born July 3, 1934, in Baker, Ore., to Frederick K. and Blanche Taylor.
Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Taylor lived in Las Vegas for many years.
He had a bachelor’s degree in education from Oregon State University and did graduate work at Brigham Young University.
He was a professional pianist, and a school and music teacher. He taught deaf and learning-impaired children and music at Carson High School.
He belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and played music at the Carson City Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah Taylor, in 1995.
Among his survivors are his son, Matthew R. Taylor of Carson City; daughter, Melanie Glazer of Carson City; brother, John Taylor of Sun River, Ore.; and granddaughter, Hope Sheldon Shoaf of Cranbourne, Australia.
Cremation will take place at Walton’s Sierra Crematory following services.
