Rock ‘n’ roll, food and drinks at Third Street on Friday night
Third Street, one of the most popular spots for live music and dancing during Taste of Downtown, continues to be a fun venue throughout the summer. The Fridays @ Third events, started four years ago by Doug and Jamesa Cramer at Mom and Pop’s Diner, are still going strong.
This Friday, The Act will perform from 7-11 p.m.
“They played last year, and everybody liked them – they’re really good,” said Jamesa Cramer on Sunday.
The rock ‘n’ roll band will play on a stage set up right on Third Street, where outdoor booths will sell food and refreshments.
The cooks at Mom and Pop’s, on the corner of Third and Carson streets, will make cheeseburgers, hot dogs, french fries, tri-tip sandwiches and rice bowls. They’ll sell water and soda, while the bar table will offer well drinks, wine and a variety of bottled beer.
Third Street is closed at Carson between Mom and Pop’s and Devincenzi’s Italian restaurant. Devincenzi’s will be open as well, with seating on its popular wooden deck.
The street will be closed at about 2 p.m. with music getting under way about 7. That’ll give a good hour and half of daylight before the sun descends behind the peaks to the west.
Depending on the crowd, the band will play until 11 or 11:30.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy the music for free.
Fridays @ Third receives some funding from the Carson City Redevelopment Authority as part of the Capital City Summer Celebration.
On July 23, the band Rush hour will play on Third Street.
Other concerts in the series include the Sidewinders playing Sunday at the amphitheater on the Legislative Lawn at 5 p.m. The Mile High Jazz Band will perform Sunday, July 25, at 5 p.m. on the lawn.
