Sending help to Katrina victims

Here are some organizations where you can send help to those affected by Hurricane Katrina:

Best Friends Animal Society

http://www.bestfriends.org

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Best Friends Animal Society was one of the first welfare organizations, humane or humanitarian, to begin on the ground relief efforts in the greater New Orleans area. While most were stuck in the tangle of the bureaucracy, Best Friends was able to establish a partnership with Jefferson Parish Animal Control and initiate animal rescue efforts as early as Thursday, September 1st.

100% of donated funds are being used to support the relief efforts.

Best Friends Animal Society, headquartered in Kanab, Utah, runs the nation’s largest sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals, and works with grassroots groups across the country to bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets.
