Sherley Marie Brown

Sherley Marie Brown, 70, a Carson City resident for the past year and a Dayton resident for 12 years, died Jan. 18, 2004, in Carson City. She was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Vancouver, Wash., to Sherman G. and Lucille M. Freel Hopkins.

She married Robert A. Brown.

Before moving to Dayton, she lived in Anchor Point, Alaska.

Mrs. Brown was an accomplished artist who produced a collection of oil paintings. She was also known for her ceramic creations and porcelain dolls. She was a past member of the Elks Lodge in Anchor Point

Among her survivors are her husband of 18 years of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel R. and Karen Stephens of Carson City; sons William Stephens of Carson City and Gregory Stephens of Dayton; daughter, Diana Stephens of Sitka, Alaska; sister, Kay Emma Kay of Sequim, Wash.; brother, Jack Hopkins of Libby, Mont.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held.

Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery. Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
