Tell us about yourself:

I moved to Virginia City 42 years ago. I have raised my family on the Comstock and now my grandchildren are growing up under the shadow of Sun Mountain. I spend my free time in my garden, with my family or volunteering for numerous community events. Over the years I’ve planted sod and trees at Miner’s Park, coached Little League teams, organized the Fourth of July and Veterans Day parades and raised money to help residents through the Virginia City Motorcycle Marathon. I’ve served as a member of the county’s planning, historic commissions and on the water and cemetery boards.

What is the top priority of the Clerk/Treasurer’s office?

To continue to serve the public in a kind an courteous manner. As a public servant I feel this is the most important mission for any elected official. Some of my duties include keeping pace with changes in election law, court mandates and maintaining an accurate accounting of the county’s finances.

What changes need to be made to better serve the citizens of Storey County?

We have more than a century and a half of history stored in the vault. We need to seek out grants to preserve our town’s memory and to make it accessible to the public. Also we need to work with our Legislature so the laws governing elections can be rewritten to remove inconsistencies such as some of the deadlines associated with the change in the date of the primary to August.

What sets you apart from your opponent?

Twenty-three years working for Storey County. Over the years I’ve fought for what’s right and for the best interests of the residents of Storey County.

To collect, manage and disperse public funds, to perform duties as the clerk of the district court and clerk for the county commissioners, and to make sure that the election process is organized and conducted in accordance with election laws.

What changes need to be made to better serve the citizens of Storey County?

I can’t fault the way the county has been operated in past years. There has been a great team in the County Courthouse and I am looking forward to be a part of that team.

What sets you apart from your opponent?

Fresh outlook and ability to stand back and assess the operations of the clerk’s office from a different perspective.
