“Strings in the Summer,” is Carson City Symphony’s summer program for string players of all ages.

Performers, directed by Sue Kitts, are from Carson City, Dayton, Incline Village and Douglas County and range from elementary school students through adults. They play a selection of their favorite classical, folk and fiddle tunes.

“Strings in the Summer” is an extension of Carson City Symphony’s “Strings in the Schools” program. This year more than 100 children will take part in the program and the first concert is scheduled for Nov. 15.

“Strings in the Schools” is funded in part by grants from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency; Carson City; the Sierra Philharmonic League and private donations.

The program is in need of half and three-quarter size instruments for use and cash donations are being accepted. Call Kitts at 267-6924 for more information.
