Volunteers needed for fence removal project
By Don Quilici
According to a recent press release, the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) is looking for a few good volunteers!
Actually, they are looking for a lot of good volunteers for a fence removal project at NDOW’s Steptoe Valley Wildlife Management Area (SVWMA) on July 31, 2004.
The project will start at 7:00 a.m. and last until around 3:00 p.m.
Volunteers will be removing fencing in preparation for a wetlands project that will return Steptoe Creek back to a more natural state with meanders and rehabilitation of the riparian zone.
Lunch and dinner will be provided for the volunteers who participate, as well as cold drinks throughout the day.
Volunteers should wear sturdy boots, work clothes, a hat and work gloves.
Sun block is recommended.
Tools needed will be provided, though if volunteers have them, fencing pliers would be helpful.
Volunteers will meet at the management area headquarters, south of Ely on U.S. 50 at 7:00 am, Saturday July 31.
They are asked to RSVP so that there will be enough food and drink for everyone.
For information or to RSVP, contact Ron Mills at (775) 289-1690, or Joe Doucette at (775) 777-2305.
