Voter registration deadline coming soon
The deadline for registering to vote in the Nov. 7 general election is fast approaching.
While today is the last day to register by mail, people who walk in have until Oct. 17.
The Clerk-Recorder Office, inside the Carson City District Courthouse, 885 E. Musser St, will be open longer on Oct. 16 and 17 so people can drop off their paperwork from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Proof of identity and residence, such as photo identification and utility bills, is required from those seeking to register.
Local items on the general ballot include district attorney, justice of the peace, two city supervisors seats, three school board seats, and a $25 million bond proposal to build and repair public school buildings.
An array of state and federal positions also are on the ballot and include governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state senator, state assembly, board of regents, board of education, U.S. senator and Congressional dist. 2.
As of Friday, there were 25,195 active voters in Carson City, according to the Elections Office.
