William G. Rogers

William G. Rogers, 79, of Tucson, Ariz. died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Loma Linda University Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Bill was born February 24, 1929 in Flint, Mich. to Morley and Helen Rogers. He married Joy-el Osborne November 19, 1949, who preceded him in death May 24, 1994.

He is survived by daughter Joy-el McBride, daughter Pamela and son-in-law Roy Houghton, daughter Marla and son-in-law Lee McKechnie; granddaughter Sarah and husband Josh Billings; grandsons Billy and Joseph St. Germaine; grandson Michael and wife Jessica McBride; granddaughter Amanda and husband Ben Robinson; grandsons Adam Houghton and Matthew McBride; granddaughter Jennifer and husband Kevin Reber; great grandchildren Alec, Mariah, and Adrien St. Germaine; Aden McBride; Eric Billings, and Logan Reber; brother Morley Rogers and wife Jeanette, sister Jean and husband Harold Radke, sister Emily and husband Austin Reinitz, sister Dorothy Stewart, sister Mary Gower, brother John Rogers and wife Beulah, brother Charles Rogers and wife Geri, and many wonderful nieces and nephews and very dear friends.

Bill was a volunteer fire chief and constable in Utica, Mich. and owned Rogers Lumber Yard before moving to the West. He owned Rogers Construction Company in Carson City for over 30 years before retiring to Tucson, Ariz. He was active on the Carson City Planning Commission and was a member of two gold clubs in Tucson. He enjoyed bottle collecting, arrowhead hunting, gem prospecting and gold dredging, fishing, and camping and family events.

A Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m., Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 412 W. Musser Street, Carson City. There will be a visitation at FitzHenry’s Funeral Home 5-7 p.m. Friday, for those wishing to say a personal goodbye. Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
