Virginia Salerno

December 30, 1933 - November 28, 2021

On Sunday, November 28, 2021, Virginia Ann Phelps Salerno, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home in Carson City, NV surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born on December 30, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA where she was adopted by her wonderful parents, John Walter Phelps and Katherine Aileen Goodman Phelps. She graduated from USC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene and then went on to practice Hygiene for about 20 years.

Virginia married her husband Daniel Nick Salerno, a prominent Architect, in 1960 (they were married for almost 62 years). Daniel and Virginia moved to San Diego, CA where they raised their family and lived for almost 30 years before retiring in Incline Village, NV in 1991. They moved to their final home in Carson City, NV in 2013.

Virginia loved traveling the world, especially if it was on a cruise ship. She also loved to entertain, was an amazing cook and really enjoyed a good glass of wine! She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and doing puzzles. Most of all she treasured all her family and many friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father John, her mother Katherine and her sister Marsha. She is survived by her loving husband Daniel, her children Darren (and Connie), Danna (and Bill) and Gina. Also, by her grandchildren Brittany, Danny (and Kay), Steven, Marc, Anthony and Dylan, and great granddaughter Violet.

She will be deeply missed but will live forever in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at Autumn Funerals in Carson City, NV at 11:00am.
