May 1, 1936 - September 22, 2022

Betty Jo (Campbell) Penrod passed away peacefully at home on September 22nd, 2022. She was 86 years old.

Betty is survived by her three children James Patrick Penrod (Debi), James Allen Penrod Jr, and Gayle Anne Penrod (Michael Galper), and grandchildren Jeremy Penrod (Aaron Theis), William Penrod, Jenna Galper, Mitchell Wahl, Zachery Wahl (Kristy), Mathew Medor and Stephani Medor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Penrod Sr.

Betty was born on May 1st, 1936, in Bellflower, CA. A star student, she graduated from Bellflower High School at the top of her class and enrolled as an undergraduate at UCLA. She married the love of her life, James Allen Penrod Sr, on April 10th, 1954, and settled in Pomona,
California. They welcomed James Patrick in 1955, James Allen in 1957, and Gayle Anne in 1960.

Pursuing an opportunity to work together, ‘Betts and Jim’ decided to uproot the family and move to Carson City Nevada, where they worked in the printing industry for several years
before opening their own business together, Printer’s Ink.

During her time in Carson City, Betty indulged her love of flying by pursuing her dream to become a private pilot, taking lessons at Carson City airport and ultimately soloing in her Cessna 152. Her lifelong love of animals resulted in numerous cats and dogs entering her
household over the years, from her prized St. Bernard ‘Barney’ to a rescue mix from the local animal shelter, Kosmo. Betty loved and spoiled them all.

After the death of her husband, Betty retired to Burbank, California, where she pursued her passion for the arts creating works in ceramics and glass. For many years Betty was a dedicated volunteer for the Burbank Historical society, serving as Docent, Secretary, and ultimately Board President.

Betty will most be remembered for her dedication to her children and grandchildren, always there to cheer on every play, every sports activity, or just being there as a helpful friend, a shoulder to lean on, or someone to talk to. Her infectious laughter and cheerful positivity
will be greatly missed, and she will always be carried in our hearts.

A private memorial service will be held at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City, Nevada, where Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband James.
