Susan Thran

March 20, 1935 - April 17, 2025

Susan Thran passed on April 17, 2025, at the age of 90 surrounded by her sons Ted Thran, Mike Thran and niece Sandy Thornton.

Susan was born on March 20, 1935, to Keith Cornforth and Elizabeth Dreier in Des Moines Iowa. During the winter of 1935, her father passed away leaving a widow with three children during the Depression which would have a profound impact on all three children. Susan was the youngest of all three. After her father’s death, her mother along with her brother Keith and Sister Nancy moved to Denver where Elizabeth was from to live with Elizabeth’s Mother and Father where they lived on
Marion way. Elizabeth went to work for the Denver Post to help support the family.

During High School Susan was a writer for the East High Spotlight perhaps following in her mother’s footsteps in newspaper. She graduated from East High in 1953. Sometime between 1959 and 1960, she moved to the
Carson Valley on the encouragement of her Brother Keith Cornforth who had just established his veterinary practice in the Valley and worked for Farmer’s Bank of Carson Valley as a Teller. Shortly thereafter she met Ted Thran and got married on November 22, 1961.

They had two sons Ted Thran and Mike Thran. She helped in their classrooms and was a team mother for both son’s teams from Little League through High School Baseball. She worked with her Sister-in-law Martha Cornforth at Martha’s Dress shop. Susan was a director on the Babe Ruth Baseball Board and a member of Minden Fortnightly She was predeceased by her Husband Ted Thran, Brother Keith Cornforth, Sister Nancy Campbell and her Mother Elizabeth Dreier. She is survived by her sons and
numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the Family requests a donation in the name of Susan be made to the Charity of their choice.
