Sue Laverne Larson

July 15, 1939 - January 21, 2025

Sue Laverne Larson, aged 85, passed away from Leukemia on January 21, 2025. Sue spent her last two weeks at home, continuing with her social activities as she had done for years. With the assistance of family and friends, her social calendar remained full. Hours were spent playing games such as Ponytail, Five Crowns, Cribbage, and Bingo as well as meals and snacks. There were stories shared, memories revisited, and moments of laughter and tears. During these times, Sue often offered comfort and reassurances, emphasizing that she had lived a fulfilling\ life. She treasured her family and friends, and it is important to remember her affection for them and that She loved “you” more.

Sue was born on July 15, 1939. She married Allen Larson on September 1, 1963, and they were together for 53 years. She worked for the Nevada DMV for 30 years before retiring. Sue cared for Al after his stroke until he passed in May 2017. Sue was very close to her sister Sally and helped care for her until she passed in February 2018.

Sue had two of the greatest sons, Donald and Ronald, who she cared for deeply. After Sue lost her husband Al and sister Sally, her nieces Mechele and Susan helped her through lonely times by including her in their family events and gatherings.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al, her sister Sally, and brother-in-law Carl. She is survived by her sons Don (Lori) and Ron (Maria); grandchildren Alex, Jaret, Ally, Lacy, and Kristen; great grandchildren: Kolbe, Sydnie, Celestina and Aubrianna; nieces Mechele (Tom), Susan (Keith); nephew Brian (Joy); great nieces/nephews; Christina, Kaitlin, Allen, Patrick, Christian, Sarah; great-greatnieces/nephews Madison, Kaydence, Dominic, Mayson, Kensley, Emilia, Benjamyn; Brock and Rory.

We thank CTH Cancer Center and St. Mary Hospice for their exceptional care, support, and compassion for Sue.

A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 3000 Lompa Lane, followed by a graveside service at Lone Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Teresa of Avila Church or The Historical Society of Dayton Valley. Sue relied on transfusions and platelets.
