May 17, 1960 - December 29, 2024

Jennifer Ann Yturbide Carlini, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 29, 2024 in Oregon City, Oregon.

Jennifer was the third child and only daughter of Thomas and Paula Yturbide. She was raised in a traditional Basque family and was very proud of her heritage and its customs. She spent her adult life in service to others as an attorney and advocate for the law. Despite being borne in Oregon, Jennifer considered herself a true Nevadan. She attended grade school in Reno and later graduated from Whittell High School with honors. She attended the University of Nevada Reno and went on to earn a law degree from the University of San Franscisco. After passing the California Bar exam she practiced law for the State of California Court of Appeals. Jennifer would eventually return to Nevada in 1995 and passed the Nevada Bar Exam. She worked as a Douglas County Deputy District Attorney for eight years. Jennifer had a strong desire to uphold the law and to serve as a victim’s advocate and champion. She was also a Judge Protem for both and East Fork and Tahoe Townships. In 2004, she left public service and went into private law practice with the firms of Brook, Shaw, and Zumpht and then with Rowe, Hales, and Yturbide. Jennifer also served as legal counsel for the Town of Gardnerville for several years. Jennifer finished her practice of law as a sole proprietor of the firm Yturbide Law. Over her thirty plus year career as an attorney, Jennifer always placed the best interest of her clients first, primarily focusing on estate planning, family law, child custody, and elder care.

Jennifer’s first priorities in life were her two daughter’s Olivia and Natalie. She encouraged them to seek new adventures at an early age and always stood behind their decisions and experiences in life. She was exceedingly proud of their accomplishments as children, in sports, in academics, and as grown adults with professional careers. She allowed them to learn how to navigate the challenges that life can bring, but was always close at hand to support them.

Jennifer was an accomplish “horsewoman” and loved the wild horses of East Valley. She took her riding very seriously and accepted every opportunity to go trail riding, with the Faye-Luther Trail and Hope Valley areas as her favorite places to ride her girls ”Lady ”and “Diamond” and later with her big beautiful boy, “PW.” While she did participate in some competitions, she simply enjoyed riding and taking care of her horses.

Jennifer loved to travel, with her most cherished trip being a 30-day trip to the Basque Country in Spain, where she was able to unite with her father’s family and share the family’s history and homestead in the small Basque town.

In 2001, she met her husband, Tod Carlini. They would marry in 2006 and shared their lives for 24 years until her death. She was a very devoted spouse, sharing all the ups and downs that exist in the life of a fire service professional. She was there for all of the good times and for those times of tragedy that are a given in public safety professions. Together they both shared a love for the outdoors, art, and building projects. Jennifer often remarked that her husband was a lot like her father when it came to a building projects. Jennifer was even able to convince Tod that horses were nothing to be afraid of. They were both dog lovers, and shared the love of one Standard Poodle, “Sierra” and five Dalmatians, “Pershing,” “Pisano,” “Dino,” “Bella,” and “Ansel,” over their time together.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her mother, Paula Yturbide, her father Tom Yturbide, brothers, Chris Yturbide, and Tom Yturbide Jr. and nephew Tim Yturbide. She is survived by her husband Tod Carlini of Gardnerville, daughters, Olivia (Jesse)Wotman of Oregon City, Oregon, Natalie Wotman, of Seattle, Washington, brother Paul (Wendy) Yturbide, of Genoa, Nevada, several cousins, nieces, nephews and several close friends who shared their lives with her.
