Diana Lyn Devine Silsby passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, after succumbing to her battle with cancer. Diana was born on September 14, 1958 in Washoe County, Nevada. She was the oldest daughter of her parents, Dennis and Sharon. During her life, Diana was very close to her sisters Tamera, Jill and Brandy as well as her half-sister Danielle. She attended Carson High School and was part of the class of 1976.
In 1982, Diana married Jim Silsby. Together they raised Jim’s son, Kevin, and welcomed a daughter, Tara, into their family in July of 1991. Nothing brought greater joy to her life than being a mother, and later on, a grandmother.
Diana was a long-time employee of the state of Nevada. She worked for the Health Division, the Legislative Council Bureau, and the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. She served the state for 30 years before retiring on April 30, 2011.
Throughout her life, Diana was known for her selflessness and tender care. One example of this was when her sister, Tamera, was in need of a kidney transplant. Without hesitation, Diana volunteered to see if she was a match. In 1997, she donated one of her kidneys to
save her sister’s life. This act of love demonstrated her willingness to put others first.
Reading was a life-long passion of Diana’s. She loved having a good book on hand at all times
and especially enjoyed her trips to the bookstore, Barnes and Noble. In addition to her enthusiasm for books, Diana delighted in caring for her fur babies. Her dogs, Marley, Mischa, and Tucker, and her cat, Bizzy, brought comfort and joy to her life.
Diana will forever be remembered as one of the kindest individuals to bless her family and friends. She was always concerned about the well-being of others, even at the end of her life. Diana was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren
Madeline, Tyler, Lincoln, and Remington.
Diana is preceded in death by her stepmother, Rose Devine, and her sister, Jill Devine.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Silsby; her mother, Sharon (Robin) Palazzolo; her father, Dennis Devine; her daughter, Tara (Vlad) Silsby-Lapshin; her son Kevin (Bonnie) Silsby; her sisters, Tamera (Steve) Pitts, Brandy (Bob) Allazetta, and Danielle (David) Gill; her grandchildren, Madeline, Tyler, Lincoln, and Remington; and her nieces Jessica, Rachel, McKaylah, and Ava.
