Jim Norris passed away June 19th, 2025,
in Minden, Nevada. Services will be held at 11:00am,
Tuesday, July 1st, at Saint Galls Catholic Church,
1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville, with burial at the
Mottsville Cemetery, 1298 Old Foothill Road.
Jim was a man who loved his church, his family,
and friends. He and his wife Jacque have been married
for 64 years. They raised their 4 children in Gardnerville.
A very humble man, he treasured being active in his
community and was someone that could always be
counted on to support his family and friends. Following his
graduation, he worked for Rocketdyne from 1955-1960.
He was recognized for developing an important part
still used in rocket engines. One of the highlights
of his life was an in person meeting he had with
German scientist Wernher von Braun.
Jim loved cars and when the family moved to
Gardnerville, he worked for COD Garage for 8 years
before opening Norris Auto Body that he owned and
operated from 1977 to 2007. He took great enjoyment in
building small aircraft with his buddies and had his private
pilot’s license. He and Jacque traveled with their pups in
their RV relishing their times on the Oregon coast, Twin
Lakes, and St. Louis and Colorado for family celebrations.
He was an amazing gardener who took great pride in his
yard and nurtured the most beautiful roses. Jacque would
like to express her heartfelt appreciation to the hospice
staff from Eden Health Hospice and Select Senior Care
for the exceptional and loving care they provided to both
Jim and herself over the last months of Jim’s life.
