“Joe” Crowdis, 82, passed away at home on February 20, 2025, in Carson City, NV.
Joe was born in Sacramento, California. His family moved to Roseburg, Oregon and then to Rescue, California where he graduated from El Dorado High School in Placerville. After two years of college, he moved to Nevada where he went to work for the Nevada Department of Transportation where he retired as Maintenance Superintendent of District 2 after more than 30 years of service. He then worked for eight more years with private engineering companies. When he re-retired, Joe and Carolynn traveled in their RV around the United States, played golf, traveled internationally and took many cruises.
Joe is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Carolynn (Cooper) Crowdis of nearly 61 years, his two daughters Judy (Mike) Curti and Diane (Ken) Kasterko, his grandchildren Kymberlee Curti, Nico (Tara) Curti, Ethan (Teagan Rice) Kasterko and Mary Kasterko, his great granddaughter Violette Villanueva and several nephews and nieces.
Much of Joe’s life outside of work and family was dedicated to service. Joe served as Scoutmaster in several towns in Nevada as he moved around the state for the Department of Transportation from 1965-1975. Joe joined Carson Lodge #1 of Free and Accepted Masons in February of 1981, serving as Master of the Lodge in 2 separate terms, President of the board Carson Assembly number 7 International Order of Rainbow for Girls, he also served many times as Rainbow Pop. He was a member of the Kerak Shrine holding many appointed offices.
Memorial Services will be held March 15, 2025, at the Masonic Lodge in Carson City, NV at 113 East Washington Street.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
