Ledo Quilici

July 4, 1943 - April 23, 2025

Ledo Quilici, 81, of Dayton, Nevada passed away on April 23, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Ledo was born July 4, 1943 to Annunziata and Ruggero Quilici in Lammari (Lucca) Italy. He
came to the United States in 1948 with his mother, his brother Salvatore and sister Rita to
join his father on Quilici Ranch in Dayton. His father had been working the ranch since 1946
with his brothers. Ledo’s younger brother Larry was born in 1954 in Carson City. Ledo grew
up on the ranch and shared many memories with his family of the truck loads of grapes that
would arrive and be made into wine and grappa. He spoke of the planting and harvesting of the potatoes that were grown at the time and how he would drive the tractor at a very young age pulling the potato planter.

Ledo attended school in the old schoolhouse which is now the Dayton Museum, he attended
Dayton High School until it closed and graduated from Carson High School in 1961. He played
football and basketball in high school and his team picture hung for years on the wall in Pizza
Factory in Dayton. After graduation Ledo signed up for the military but was unable to serve
because of his allergies. Instead, he went to work for Nevada Department of Transportation
where he became an expert in materials. His work on the use of lime in asphalt mixes was
published and he traveled around the state and the country speaking about it and educating
other road departments. He retired from the NDOT after 36 years of service. There are
few NDOT roads that Ledo did not affect their construction in some way.

He was an avid hunter and would share stories of his hunting adventures with his brother
Salvatore and their hunting buddies. They traveled all over the west and as far as Canada
to pursue their passion.

Ledo was a kind and loyal man who loved his community and the people in it. He had a regular
schedule of where and what he ate and the staff who took care of him were like family. The Road Runner, Js’ Bistro, Gold Ranch, Odeon, and the Dayton Inn, were the places he frequented. He’d make donations to the Dayton Food Pantry every Thanksgiving and Christmas and when Dayton had a toy drive he would donate Tonka trucks and baby dolls!

Ledo was a cherished member of his family which extended beyond Dayton to Virginia City, Reno, California, Idaho, Lammari, Italy and Brazil. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Salvatore and his sister Rita. He is survived by his brother Larry Quilici, his nieces and nephews; Gary Selmi and his children Stevie and Dillon, Danny Selmi and his wife Lisa and their three sons, Domenic, Michael and Thomas, Randy Selmi, his wife Stacey and their three children, Christie, Jamie and Cody, David Quilici and his wife Trish and their sons, Dante and Tory, Tina Savini and her husband Rod and their sons, Geno and Pete and Michelle Rand and her husband Matt and their children Michaela and Morgan.

A Burial service will be held at the Dayton Cemetery on May 17th at 10:00 am. In lieu of
flowers please make donations to the Dayton Food Pantry, addressed to HCC PO Box 517,
