Cathleen Allison/Nevada Appeal Fritsch Elementary School fifth-grader Shashank Kandhadai, 10, explains his science project Wednesday night. Winners were recognized in a district-wide awards ceremony at Western Nevada Community College. Kandhadai won a first place award for his effort to see if the angle of a solar panel would effect the amount of power it produced.
