Three law enforcement officers in Northern Nevada were shot and wounded Friday, after a traffic stop in Sparks quickly escalated into an hourslong standoff that included several shootouts between officers and the suspect, police said.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office received information on February 10th of an alleged Sex Trafficking operation out of California that had arrived in the local area on February 9th. The original information alleged that approximately 9 persons were involved, including 3 males who were significantly armed. Due to the nature of the sex trafficking operation, the FBI’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Task Force was immediately engaged to assist.
A 24-year-old Fallon resident died during a Nov. 16 crash at the U.S. 50A at Fulkerson Road, according to Nevada State Police.
A 66-year-old Idaho woman died after an Oct. 29 crash on Interstate 80 in Churchill County.
Two Yerington men died on Oct. 1 in a crash on State Route 439 in Lyon County.
A 34-year-old Dayton man was arrested Thursday night after a standoff with Lyon County Deputies. Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Sweetwater Circle in Dayton for a report of shots fired and a male subject armed with a rifle running from an apartment in the area around 4:20 p.m.
Eight people have been arrested in connection with an Aug. 12 shooting, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
A 79-year-old Fallon resident died on July 21 in a crash on US 50 and Coleman Road. At 1 p.m., the Nevada State Police responded to a crash, where the preliminary investigation indicates that a gold 2006 Toyota Avalon was traveling eastbound on US 50 west of Coleman Road. A gray 2022 Ram 2500 was traveling westbound on US 50 west of Coleman Road and a white 2016 Ford F-250 was traveling behind the gray Ram 2500.
On July 14, 2023, at approximately 7:58 p.m. the Nevada State Police responded to a crash at the location of IR80 eastbound at mile marker 85, located in Churchill County. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2017 black Harley-Davidson was traveling eastbound on IR80 near mile marker 85.
A 19-year-old Carson City man died on June 25 in a crash U.S. 395A and William Brent Road, in Washoe Valley. The preliminary investigation indicates that 2019 Infiniti Q60S sedan was traveling southbound on 395A south of William Brent Road, according to the Nevada State Police. The Infiniti began to leave the right side of the road before the driver corrected, steering left. The Infiniti rotated counterclockwise across the northbound travel lanes, continued into the shoulder, and struck a tree. The passenger of the vehicle, Angel Cruzaley Mendez, died in the crash.
On June 3, at 12:41 p.m., Lyon County Animal Services received an anonymous complaint in reference suspicious activity occurring at a residence on 10th Street, in Silver Springs, Nevada. According to the caller they were hearing a large commotion, specifically a large number of roosters "Crowing." Animal Services requested assistance from the Sheriff's Office.
A Fernley middle school student was arrested on Monday after allegedly brining a .45 caliber handgun to school.
Three juveniles are in custody, one juvenile remains in critical condition in Reno, and investigators believe drugs could be the motive in a Tuesday night shooting in east Carson City.
On Jan. 20, the U.S. Marshals Service extradited Pascual Reyes-Muniz from Mexico City to Fallon. Reyes-Muniz was wanted for Sexual Assault of a Child Under 14 and Lewdness With a Child Under 14. The victim was 6 years old.

THURSDAY At 1:15 a.m., a 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of contempt of court after deputies initiated a traffic stop near Railroad Drive and Saliman Road. Bail was set at $227.
