Big game tag application deadline in April

Don Quilici

Big game hunting tags are issued by the Nevada Division of Wildlife, through a computerized drawing system. Tags will be available for pronghorn antelope, mule deer, Rocky Mountain elk, California bighorn sheep, desert bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain goat and mountain lion.

There are two ways to submit your applications this year:

1. By an Authorized Postal Service:

If mailed, your applications must be mailed to the Wildlife Administrative Services Office in Fallon. DO NOT send them to the Nevada Division of Wildlife.

Those forms are required to be submitted through an authorized postal service such as the U.S. Mail, FedEx, UPS.

If you do not have the necessary application forms, they can be obtained at Nevada Division of Wildlife offices and authorized license dealer outlets, throughout the State of Nevada.

2. On the Internet:

If you so desire, this year for the first time for Nevada, you can apply on the Internet.

Credit card applications will be available beginning March 18 at the Wildlife Administrative Services Office website: http://www.huntnevada.com.

There will be a $2 fee for this process.

Internet applications will be posted immediately and checked for accuracy. If your application is accepted, it is accurate and you are in the drawing. Tag fees will not be subtracted from your credit card unless you actually draw a tag.

Regardless of how you apply, those who apply for tags will be notified of the drawing results by no later than June 22. Those results will also be posted to the http://www.huntnevada.com website by the Wildlife Administrative Services Office.

Special Note: Postal applications which are keyed and entered by the Fallon Hunt Application Office, prior to the deadline of 5 p.m. on April 22, will be returned to the submitters, if there are any errors on the forms. That will enable the submitters to correct the errors and to re-submit their corrected information.

Remember that final application deadline: 5 p.m. on April 22.
