Carson girls soccer beats North Valleys

Appeal Staff Report

The Carson High girls soccer team continues to be a second half club and because of that, the Senators remained unbeaten in the Sierra League with a 4-1 win at North Valleys on Tuesday.

It was the third time in the last four games that Carson came back in the second half to win. It was also a huge win heading into Saturday’s showdown at South Tahoe in a game between two of the Northern 4A’s top teams.

Carson trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Cassie Bowman was moved from midfield up front and that sparked the Senators, with Bowman scoring twice. “She pretty well set the pace,” Carson coach Randy Roser said.

After Kasey Cano was fouled in the goal box, Sammy Valerius scored on a penalty kick to tie the game 1-1. Kayla Sanchez then assisted on the next two goals scored by Bowman and Rebecca Kane and Bowman finished the scoring.

“Our defense and midfield played exceptionally. We’re just having trouble finishing the ball,” said Roser about the first half. “We played very well. I would say this was the best game we’ve played all year.”

Anna Macquarie, Kristin Rush and Brandy Cantley all played well defensively and Bowman and Amanda Osborne played well at midfield.
