Carson High basketball teams fall to Manogue
January 21, 2019
The Carson High girls basketball played well enough defensively against Manogue but continued to struggle somewhat offensively in a 55-44 loss to the Miners on Friday.
Carson coach Doug Whisler said his team just missed too many easy shots. "We played great defensively against them," Whisler said. "I'm proud of the way we played defensively against them. We've just got to step it up offensively a little bit."
Whisler praised Bella Kordonowy's defensive play inside and also singled out Abby Golik's defensive play. "All my starters on defense played great," he said.
Golik had 12 points, including two three-pointers, and three steals, Lily Bouza had a solid all-around game with six points, nine rebounds and six assists, Naycy Alvarez scored eight points, Abby Pradere had five steals and Trinity Beard added seven rebounds.
In the boys game, Manogue beat Carson, 74-32. Both the Carson boys and girls play at Damonte Ranch on Tuesday, with the girls game at 5:15 p.m. and the boys game at 7.
