CHS football players earn postseason honors

Chance Smith was among the leaders for the Carson High football team when it came to postseason honors. Smith was an Northern 4A second team choice and Sierra League first team selection as a running back for the Senators.
Senator offensive lineman Chandler Tierney was also a Northern 4A second team and Sierra League first team choice. J.J. Acosta made the Northern 4A and Sierra League first teams as a punter.
Smith finished the season with 636 yards rushing, averaging 6.1 yards a carry, and also ran for eight touchdowns.
Acosta was also a Sierra League first team choice and Northern 4A second team selection as a defensive end. Acosta had 45 tackles on the season, including three sacks.
Offensive lineman Carl Cavner was a Sierra League second team choice for CHS and Acosta made the second team as a tight end. On defense, lineman Clayton Greene was a second team choice for the Senators.
Running back Bradley Maffei was an honorable mention choice while linebackers Jeremy Heaton and Manny Vasquez, Cavner as a lineman and defensive back Gilbert Vasquez were all honorable mention choices on defense for CHS.

Not surprisingly, Damonte Ranch and Manogue dominated the Northern 4A's and Sierra League's top honors. Damonte's Cade McNamara was the Northern 4A and Sierra League Player of the Year, Manogue's Peyton Dixon was the Northern 4A and Sierra League Offensive Player of the Year, Damonte's Derrick Knoblock was the Northern 4A and Sierra League Defensive Player of the Year and Manogue's Josh Malafu was the Sierra League Lineman of the Year.
