Carson softball sweeps

Staff Reports

The conditions weren’t the best, but that didn’t stop Brittany Puzey and Kayla Dunn from proving strong pitching efforts again for the Carson High softball team.

Puzey and Dunn were the winning pitchers as Carson swept a doubleheader from North Valleys, winning 10-1 and 7-3.

“It was a cold, miserable, rainy, snowy day,” Carson coach John Sullivan said.

Puzey tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine in the opener while Dunn pitched a five-hitter, allowing no earned runs and striking out seven in the nightcap for the Senators (7-0-1, 5-0 in the Sierra League). “They’re real solid,” Sullivan said.

Puzey also had a huge day offensively, going 5-for-6.

Carson scored six runs in the first inning in the opener. Dunn, Lindsey Perondi, Ariandne Gonzalez and Bethany Henry all had RBI singles during the rally.
